The Largest Rug We've Ever Made

The Largest Rug We've Ever Made

We get asked this a lot.

What's the biggest rug you've ever made?

The answer is a 12-metre by 17-metre carpet, hand tufted, in one piece, part of a larger 600 square meter installation of area rugs for a single project. Six months of work. The same hands and the same process we apply to every piece we make, scaled to fill a room most people will never see the full length of at once.

One Piece. No Seams.

The 12m × 17m carpet was made as a single continuous piece. Not panels joined together. Not sections that meet at the edges. One piece, from the first tuft to the last.

To make it, we extended the factory. The space itself had to grow to accommodate what we were building, which tells you something about the scale of the commission.

When it was finished, we moved it by crane.

At that scale, every decision made at the loom carries through the entire surface. Consistency isn't something you can correct at the end, it has to be built in from the beginning.

The Project

The full installation covered 600 square meters across multiple area rugs, each hand tufted in olive greens and deep reds, grounding hues that worked together as a considered whole rather than a collection of separate pieces.

Six months from first thread to final installation.

The Same Process, At Any Scale

What makes a large-format rug difficult isn't the size, it's maintaining the integrity of the craft at that scale. The tension, the pile, the color consistency. These are things a machine can replicate at volume. By hand, they require attention at every stage.

That's what six months looks like.

We've made rugs for bedrooms and rugs for ballrooms. The process doesn't change. The hands do the work either way.

We make rugs in any size, for any space. If you have a project in mind, a room, a lobby, a space with dimensions that don't fit anything off the shelf,we'd like to hear about it.
